Frequently asked questions

Do I have to have insurance/medicaid to come to you?

Although we accept many insurances it is not a requirement to be admitted

How much do I have to pay?

We have a sliding fee scale, but you may be eligible for services at no cost

How do I get in? How can I come to your center?

First you fill out our application on our website, and fax it to us. Once we’ve received your application we will set you up for an interview. If you’re eligible for our services, then we’ll either put you on the waitlist or place you in a bed if we have one open.

Do you have a wait list? How long is your waitlist?

Yes, we often have a wait list, however do not let that discourage you. Many times, the wait list will go more quickly than expected.

What can I bring?

You are able to bring 2 medium sized storage bins of items per person. So for example if you are coming with 1 child then you can bring 4 bins. This does not include any bedding or groceries you would like to bring as well.

Can I bring all my children?

We accept up to 3 children up to age 10.

Do I have to go through detox before I come?

Yes, we require anyone testing positive for alcohol, benzodiazepines, and Opioids to go to detox.

Do you detox pregnant women?

Yes, we work with Memorial Regional Hospital on Johnson Street. You can go to the Emergency Room and they will admit you for a few days to a week. Once you’re stabilized we will house you in the evening and take you to Memorial daily for medication and treatment. After you have completely detoxed you are then able to be admitted into our residential program.

Can I smoke?

We are a smoke-free campus for health and safety of our residents and the children that stay here.

Can I have a phone?

For the first 60 days you will not be able to have your personal cell phone, but you will be able to use the phones at the center.

Can I bring my TV/Laptop/tablet etc…?

We do no allow valuables here, however once you have earned the privilege you are able to have a TV in your room.

When can my family come visit?

Your family will need to attend 4 family groups and 1 session with your therapist before they are able to visit with you. This is typically after being here for 30 days.

When can my child’s father/grandparents come visit them?

They can come and take the child off property at any time as long as you sign the proper documents releasing your child to their care. We do not restrict the children from any family members.

Where are you located?

We are in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Our address is 1633 Poinciana Dr, Pembroke Pines, FL 33025 We are on the corner of University and Pembroke, behind the DMV.

What times are you open?

Our administrative hours are Monday through Friday 8am-5pm and our residence is running 24/7.

Can I come without my child?

It really depends on the situation and you would need to speak directly with admissions about your situation to see if you’re still eligible.

My child is in foster care, can you still help me?

Yes, we will need to see your case plan and speak with your child advocate but in many instances, we are able to still admit you and help you get reunified with your child.

Do you have centers in other states?

Unfortunately, currently we are only in South Florida. If you call 211 in your own state, they may be able to refer you to a center near you.

My daughter is in jail, can you still assess her and take her at your center?

Yes, we go into the jails and do assessments regularly. We will need her name and if she has an attorney, their name and number as well.

Donations

Do you take furniture donations?

Yes, but on a very limited basis. You will need to send us a picture of the item and transport it to the center. To schedule a donation drop-off please call Whitney Hughson 954-733-6068 x2012

Do you take donations of clothing?

Yes, we take gently used clothing for women and children. We need business professional clothing for the women such as slacks, dresses, skirts, and blouses. We also need accessories, purses and shoes. For the children, we accepted gently used clothing and our greatest need is shoes that are in good condition.

When can I drop off my donations?

You can come to the front desk 8:30am – 4:30pm to fill out a donation form and drop off your items

Do you pick-up donations?

We are able to pick-up donations on a case by case basis, but usually we do not have the capability to pick-up donations.

Do you have a list of items you need the most?

Do you accept volunteers?

Yes, we have a volunteer application you can fill out online or at the center. We love our volunteers and have many different opportunities for individuals and groups.

Can I take a tour of the center?
