Staff Biography's
Marsha L. Currant, MSW
Chief Executive Officer
Ms. Currant is the founding Executive Officer of the Susan B Anthony Recovery Center who has over 30 years of experience working with at risk families in Broward County. Her previous experience includes progressively more responsible positions including: the Director of the Juvenile Assessment Center and the Program Administrator for Foster Care and Adoptions for the State of Florida where she was responsible for over 1500 foster children and over 350 foster homes.
Ms. Currant was one of 14 Management Fellows chosen from over 40,000 State employees. One of her special projects that she was responsible for during that year was to establish a Foster Care Advisory Board for Broward County. Ms. Currant received her Master’s degree in Social Work from Florida International University. She is the recipient of numerous awards for her work with women and children, including awards from Channel 2, the Broward County Fair, Healthy Mothers/Healthy Babies, and 100 Outstanding Women in Broward County.
Krista Bloom, PH.D, LCSW
Clinical/Operations Director
Dr. Bloom is a licensed Psychologist with over 17 years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families. As a graduate of Social work and Clinical Sexology, she specializes in the treatment of many addictions. Previously Dr. Bloom founded and ran the Private Practice Healing Couch, Inc., specializing in counseling, sex therapy, women’s issues and abuse recovery.
For the past 11 years, Dr. Bloom has been an adjunct professor at Barry University and the American Academy of Clinical Sexologists.
Joanna DeAngelo, LMHC, ATR-BC, CAP
Program Director
Ms. DeAngelo has worked in the Metal Health Community for more than twenty years. She is a graduate of Florida Atlantic University and Vermont College of Norwich University. She holds certifications in both Art psychotherapy and Addictions, and is a Licensed Mental Counselor. During this time, she has been employed at the Retreat Psychiatric Hospital in Weston, Florida, the Biscayne Rehabilitation Institute for Brain and Spinal Cord injury in Aventura, Florida and the Susan B Anthony Recovery Center in Pembroke Pines where she has served for three years as Clinical Director.
Ms. DeAngelo is currently the Director of both Children’s Services and the SURF Program (Strengthening and Unifying Outpatient Families) at the Susan B Anthony Recovery Center.
Ms. DeAngelo has also taught and presented at various universities and programs throughout Palm Beach, Broward and Dade Counties.
Deon Pottinger
Director of Finance
Ms. Pottinger has been employed at SBA since 2006 she reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for managing financial, human resources and administrative functions. This includes preparing the budget; conducting financial analysis and preparing financial reports; developing and implementing an effective system of accounting; managing the payroll system and maintaining accurate and current bylaw records.
Ms. Pottinger manages accounting and financial systems and maintains full and accurate accounting records, she also conduct financial analysis and prepare detailed financial reports and statements. Provide financial and accounting advice, direction and leadership ensure compliance with financial legislation, policies and procedures and adhere to the terms of Contribution Agreements.
Ms. Pottinger develops and implements purchasing practices and monitors the purchasing system. Prepare tender documents and administer contracts respond to auditors’ comments concerning finances and operations and oversee required action to address deficiencies. She also approves the Chart of Accounts and maintains commitment controls implement and monitor payment authority practices. She establishes and maintains cash controls, monitor department spending and recommend corrective actions as necessary and reconcile general ledger accounts. Ms. Pottinger acquired a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a major in Accounting and minor in International Business from the University of Technology, Jamaica in 2003.
Susan Nyamora AA, CRPS
Residential Supervisor
Mrs. Nyamora is former persons served and a graduate of the Susan B. Anthony Recovery Center; she supervises part-time and full-time staff and the residential component of the program as well as the 50-58 families that reside at the program. She ensures that the persons served residing in program are prepared for independent living as well as substance free.
Mrs. Nyamora travels frequently to Tallahassee to advocate for substance abuse treatment programs and is an active voice for recovery throughout the community. She is also a certified peer specialist and she is in her last semester of obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in pursuit of a double major in Psychology and Health Care Administration along with being a wife and mother of five children.
Linda Weinman MSW, CMHP
Developmental Intervention Specialist, Parent Educator
Mrs. Weinman is a graduate of Florida International University with a Masters in Social Work. She has been in the field for 25 years, working first with the chronically mentally ill, then teenage substance abuse, families, adults and children.
In the past, Mrs. Weinman has had a private practice specializing in families with teenagers. She facilitated a Tough Love group in the community for over twelve years and has been seen on community television and appeared on panels advocating for parents for parents rights.
Mrs. Weinman has taught parenting classes for years and is certified in Triple P Parenting, STEP Parenting and Active Parenting curriculums. She is versed in the autism spectrum and keenly aware of developmental delays in infants and children. Mrs. Weinman is a Child Net approved parent educator and supervisor and testified in court regarding reunification cases between parent and child. She also enjoys watching criminal TV programs both real and fantasy, reading biographical novels.
Taressa Hall, Ed. D
Vocational/Educational Coordinator
Dr. Hall is currently the Vocational /Educational Coordinator for SBA working with recovering substance abused women reuniting with their children. Previously she worked as an educator with Dade & Orange County Public School systems.
Dr. Hall has a background in organizational leadership, counseling education, psychology and criminal justice. She’s an active loving mother of three adorable children and is dedicated to helping others become successful in life, while progressively gaining knowledge to enhance her career.
Dr. Sigal Levy, PH. D
Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Levy earned her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Nova Southeastern University in 1998. She completed her internship at the University of Miami, Student Counseling Center. Dr. Levy has been employed with the Susan B Anthony Recovery Center since 1998 as clinical psychologist. She specializes in addiction, trauma issues, eating-mood-anxiety disorders and anger management as well as grief and loss issues. In her spare time, I enjoy ballroom dancing.
Dione Massicot-DePooter
Primary Therapist
Mrs. Massicot-DePooter has been with Susan B Anthony Center since 2008. She is a Licensed Family Therapist, Certified in Women’s Studies, Certified Child Protection Professional and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Mrs. Massicot-DePooter also facilitates many of the family and group sessions at our center.
Mrs. Massicot-DePooter is presently pursing a CAP and one day hopes to pursue her Doctorate. She also loves writing poetry and intends to publish someday.
Carol Chehade
Primary Therapist
Ms. Chehade is a primary therapist working with adult women with adult women with addiction and co-occurring disorders. Previously, her background was in domestic and international human sex trafficking.
Her work has taken her abroad, where she consulted with several non government organizations (NGO’s) working on prevalent human rights issues. She also freelances as a writer, tours with plays she have written and produced documentaries.
Dr. Denise Treadwell-Thompkins
Primary Therapist
Dr. Treadwell-Thompkins has earned a Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership Administration, completed her 1st feature film and a mother of two college graduates.
Her experience in Mental Health Counseling spans over 12 years. Diverse work and dedication experience includes teaching, training and management. Spirituality is her foundation of strength in every aspect of her life. Helping to empower others is her passion and her purpose.
Karen E. Worthey-Osborne, MS
Outpatient Therapist with the S.U.R.F program
Mrs. Worthey-Osborne is an outpatient therapist for the Susan B. Anthony Recovery Center; Mrs. Worthey-Osborne does in-home substance abuse treatment for families who are not in our center, who are in danger of having their children removed by the state. Her S.U.R.F program (Strengthening and Unifying Recovering Families) is the only program of its kind in Broward County.
Prior to working at the center, Mrs. Worthey-Osborne was the Senior Clinician at Hollywood Work Release Center and she worked with female inmates with substance abuse problems.
Mrs. Worthey-Osborne has received her Master’s Degree from Nova Southeastern University and her undergraduate degree in Social Work from Union Institute and University. In addition, Mrs. Worthey-Osborne had been part of a grant writing team to seek funding to provide daycare to children who are affected by or who are infected with HIV/AIDS. While not at the center, Karen can be heard on WMBM 1490 AM radio as she hosts the talk show “Wings of Mercy” which focuses on Mental Health Issues. Mrs. Worthey-Osborne received her CAP (Certified Addiction Professional) from the Florida Certification board in 2010. She is currently preparing to take her test to become a licensed Mental Health Counselor.
Louvonne Adams, MSW
Case Manager
Ms. Adams is primarily responsible for the intake of all persons served prior to admission/intake. I am responsible for the assessment & evaluations which are presented to the admissions committee on a weekly basis for final consideration of placement and/or additional information. I provide presentations in the jails, hospitals & other providers of SBA services. I also visit homeless shelters for evaluations/assessments. After intake, I’m responsible to input date of new p/s in DCF/TANF website in addition to our own database. I provide weekly reports to SBA and DOC of the number of persons served, potential admissions & discharges. I provide monthly reports of admissions, referrals, waiting list and pending admissions while tracking all referrals on a daily basis.
Ms. Adams is a graduate of Barry University Masters of Social Work in 2009, also a graduate of Miami-Dade College certificate of addictions studies, graduated from Fort Lauderdale College B.S. in management in 2005. She has a history of family therapist, primary therapist, case management for adolescents at the Starting Place & the Village. Ms. Adams was the forensic case manager for Miami-Dade adults in recovery seeking reunification with children.
Bobbie Linkhorn
Case Manager/Peer Mentor
Ms. Linkhorn is a 31 year old woman with three children; she has been in recovery form addiction and alcoholism since November 21, 2007. During her amazing journey in sobriety she has discovered that she has a simple primary purpose here in life. Her purpose is to stay sober and help another alcoholic or addict achieve sobriety. She believes that everything in her life has happened for a reason the good, the bad and the ugly, including the lost of her children.
As of May 5, 2011 she was offered a position at SBA for case management and peer mentoring. All of the persons served on her case load suffer directly from the very same disease of addiction as she does herself, as well as most of her clients have Child Net involvement. Therefore, her position here at SBA keeps her involved in her primary purpose on a daily basis. For that she will always remain truly grateful for her position. She truly loves her job and all the life changing knowledge she is learning.
Lisa McGarry
Therapeutic Case Manager
Mrs. McGarry provides therapeutic and case management services for HIP persons served. She also provides group counseling for the persons served at the Susan B Anthony Recovery Center, Mrs. McGarry earned her BA in Psychology from Florida International University. She received her MSW from Florida International University and she has been employed in the field of social work for 24 years. She is also currently pursuing her CAP.
Toula Zoulas, MA, MS
Child Therapist
Ms. Zoulas is a Child therapist (play therapist) for Susan B. Anthony Center since October 12, 2011. Her work consists of helping children engage in play activities for better enhance their ability to express and communicate their feelings. Helping children prevent or resolve psychosocial difficulties and achieve obtain optimal growth and development.
Ms. Zoulas has a background in educational/applied psychology, as well as clinical psychology. She has two Master’s Degrees and currently completed her doctorate course towards my PSY.D. In her own time she loves to travel with her son and expose him to new opportunities.
Maya Berryhill-Porter, MSW
Child Therapist
Mrs. Berryhill-Porter began employment at the Susan B Anthony Recovery Center in October 2011. She graduated from Barry University in 2008 with a Master’s in Social Work. Mrs. Berryhill-Porter is a registered Intern and plans to take the LCSW exam in 2012. She is married with three children.
Randy Breiter
Job Coach
Mr. Breiter graduated from FIU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems and a minor in English. As the Job Coach/Developer for the Susan B. Anthony Center he is responsible for assisting the clients with finding employment. Meet with employers on a weekly basis to form employer partnerships so they can hire more of our clients. Provide workshops on resume writing, interviewing skills, and business etiquette.
Mr. Breiter is also responsible for cold calling and going in person to businesses to work with them on providing employment opportunities for our clients. Compile monthly reports. Also, I ran the 1st and 2nd Annual Susan B. Anthony Center Job Fairs.
Mr. Breiter enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as playing basketball and going to the movies and watching sports. My ultimate passion is helping people find employment to better themselves. He is also the youngest of four brothers and 1 sister.
Tracy Vuong
Grant Writer/IT
Mr. Vuong is responsible for pre and post grant awards. Ensures grant compliance and outcome reporting, prepares federal, state, county and private foundation RFP/RFA. He also provides oversight of the agency’s information technology.
Mr. Vuong has a Master’s of Biomedical Science and pursing Doctorate of Health Science.
Jenica Cruz
Medical Records/ Front Office
Ms. Cruz have been working at SBA since 2009, working at SBA has been a wonderful learning experience. Her position includes maintaining all medical records and overseeing the front office. I enjoy working with the ladies and helping them in every aspect that I can. We are like a family here.
Ms. Cruz is currently seeking her bachelor’s in social work and expected to graduate April 2012. Her hobbies include traveling, kayaking, riding bikes and spending time with family.
Samantha Anglin
Data Entry Clerk
Mrs. Anglin has been employed with the Susan B Anthony Recovery Center since 2009. Mrs. Anglin is responsible for the CSB and SURF billing; she also accepts deposits in our Client Trust Fund from our persons served in the accounting clerk’s absence. She is also responsible for entering data into Gift Works database to keep track of donor’s information.
She is also responsible for sending out thank you letters to all of the donators of the Susan B Anthony Recovery Center and many other miscellaneous data entry tasks. Ms. Anglin is a licensed cosmetologist and plans to open her own salon one day. In her spare time she loves to spend time with her two children.
Sherri Monaco
Accounting Clerk
Mrs. Monaco has 25 years experience as a bookkeeper; she is responsible for entering the payables and receivables for the Susan B Anthony Recovery Center. She is married with two children.
Samia Sheppard
Residential Manager
Ms. Sheppard has received certification as a Peer Substance Abuse Specialist; December will make three years she has been employed at the Susan B Anthony Recovery Center. She enjoys working with the children and watching them grow. She also loves watching the parents grow closer to their children and work hard at becoming a family unit. She shows the ladies “Tough Love” and takes great pride in seeing a person served complete the program and live a clean and drug free.
Catherine El-Amin
Residential Manager
Mrs. El-Amin has experience as a Social Worker Aide for Broward County. She has worked as a Program Coordinator with persons with Developmental Disabilities, she is also a certified
Recovery Support Specialist and enjoys working with people. As a residential manager she models appropriate behaviors, acts as a mentor and ensure safety for the persons served.
Sonya Crudup
Residential Manager
Ms. Crudup ensures the safety if the women and children in a comfortable home environment so they can focus on recovery, employability and the ability to maintain a secure place to raise their children. Ms. Crudup is a former client of the Susan B Anthony Recovery Center and proves that the program has helped her also to become a successful member of society as well as a loving parent. Ms. Crudup is currently enrolled in school to become a substance abuse counselor in order to help further.
Sharon Sue
Residential Manager
Mrs. Sue is as a residential manager and loves her position it gives her the opportunity to work with women with various degrees of issues. She feels it is rewarding to witness the beginning and ending of a life that has been changed for the better. She has worked with young people for many years and have used that experience along with Susan B. Anthony Recovery Center’s training to excel in her position. Mrs. Sue also has training as a security office.
Quartas Wilcox
Residential Manager
Ms. Wilcox is a Residential Manager at Susan B. Anthony, as a RM we teach women daily living and parenting skills. Getting the women prepared on how to survive in society and make positive decisions for themselves. She is a family oriented Christian person who enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
Cecile Chong
Residential Manager
Mrs. Chong is a Residential Manager of the North 1st floor wing; she offers the ladies a motherly type of love and affection. A person who truly cares for their well being, she offers patience, kindness and a listening ear. She is one who is dependable and offers comfort and a smile; she looks at all the positives in these ladies and focus on such. She treats the ladies with dignity and respect.
Mrs. Chong is a licensed practical nurse with all certifications required. She is presently in the process of pursuing certification courses in substance abuse and other courses that will make me more qualified to service the ladies here at SBA.
Juan Villaquirau
Maintenance
Mr. Villaquirau position is to keep the buildings well maintained and work well with his team. Mr. Villaquirau has 15 years doing maintenance work and believes that he is very good at what he does. He loves his work and feeling well in SBA thanks to the staff.
Arturo Bolares
Maintenance
Mr. Bolares provides maintenance services for the Susan B. Anthony Center.
