Our Mission: To transform families by providing help, hope and healing for mothers and their children to live responsible drug-free lives.

At the Susan B Anthony Recovery Center we allow the mother and her children to reside in our residences providing them a safe place to start again. We are the only center in Broward County that has this unique housing situation. This prevents the children from entering or returning to the foster care system. Families at our center benefit from comprehensive services that address complex issues affecting them. Our goals are to assist women in recovery to live an independent life, bond with their children and lead a healthy family lifestyles.

Some Facts about Women and Drug Abuse

-Physically, mentally, socially and environmentally; the alcohol and other drug abusing woman may be impaired in her ability to take adequate care of herself and her children, as she often faces the simultaneous stresses of poverty, homelessness and motherhood with inadequate or no family resources.

-During the past decade an unprecedented number of single-parent families entered the child welfare system because the mother had an identified substance abuse problem. Substance abuse is now cited as one of the three most common reasons for children entering foster care. Treating drug abuse at our center is far less costly then incarceration for the mother and foster care for the children.

-Addiction is not only a disease, but it is also a way of life within a distinct subculture. Recovery is not about “just stop taking drugs” it also demands adjustment to a new way of life within the culture of the lager community. To make a new way of life, and not just relocate the old one, people must have guidance, acquire new skills and make new contacts.
